QUESTIONS

Why are prescriptions from Mailscripts prices so low?

The Canadian government puts a limit on how much pharmaceutical manufacturers can charge for brand name drugs when they are approved. As well, the currency exchange rate favors the U.S. dollar even further. This means that the U.S. dollar buys more in Canada.

Are all drugs less expensive in Canada?

No, but the vast majority are. As an American buying in Canada the exchange rate works in your favor.

Is a prescription required?
Yes! Just like your local pharmacy we require a valid prescription from a licensed U.S. physician. Any pharmacies advertising that they can ship you medication without a prior prescription are not acting in your best interest, and may not shipping quality, brand name medication.

How does the approval process work?

Once your ‘New Client Form Package’ and prescription have been received, they will be reviewed by a licensed Canadian physician. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently limits the quantity of a personal prescription mailed to a resident in the United States to a 3 month supply. Every 3 months you can order a refill of your medications provided that the prescription that you submitted to Mailscripts allows for the refills. Once the refills have been exhausted then you will need to submit a new prescription to Mailscripts. As long as there have been no changes to your prescription or health, we will not require another ‘New Client Form Package’.

How does the quality of Canadian medications compare to American medications?
The Canadian government has very strict requirements for the manufacturing of medication in Canada. These requirements are very similar to the requirements of the U.S. FDA. Some of the drugs sold in Canada are actually manufactured in the U.S. and repackaged for sale in Canada. Generic medications are all manufactured in Canada under Canada’s stringent quality requirements. The United States Congress recently did a study on the safety of Canadian medications and found them to be equal in quality to drugs from the United States. Click Here to read the study dated June 12, 2003.

Are all American drugs available?
Not all drugs available in the U.S. are available in Canada. See our product list for a full listing of the medications available at Mailscripts.

Why do some drugs have different names in Canada?
These are trade or brand names registered by the manufacturer. In different countries manufacturers will often use different trade names for marketing purposes. The medications still have the same active ingredients, but may look different. Our licensed pharmacists review each order carefully, and are available to speak with you if you have any questions.

Can I buy Tylenol 3, Valium, codeine or similar medications from your pharmacy?
No. It is not legal for us to ship any narcotic or controlled substance across the border. In addition, we can not ship certain injectables or liquids to ensure your safety and the integrity of the product.

Is there a limit on how much I can buy?
Yes, you may only purchase a maximum of a 3 month supply as prescribed by your physician of your medications. If your physician writes a prescription allowing for refills then we can fill those refills as they come due. The FDA allows American citizens to import a maximum of 3 months worth of medication for personal use. Any amount above this 3 month limit is not considered “personal use”.

Is the dispensing fee charged for each prescription?
Our dispensing fees are included in our prices.

Will you accept my insurance policy?
Unfortunately, most insurance plans are not set up to accept claims from a foreign pharmacy at this time. You will be issued a receipt with your prescriptions that you may submit to your insurance company, but there are no guarantees that you can be reimbursed.

What do you accept for payment?
At Mailscripts, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express or International Money Orders. We DO NOT accept Postal Money Orders or personal checks. We will ship the prescription to you once the check or money order has been verified. For your benefit, we will only process your credit card order once the package is ready to be shipped.

How long will my order take to process?
It takes us approximately 72 hours to process your prescriptions once we have your COMPLETE patient profile and your valid prescription written by a licensed U.S. physician. It will then take approximately 7-14 business days for shipping. The process can be delayed if:

  • We have to contact your doctor or pharmacy to get a confirmation of your prescription.
  • Your credit card information is inaccurate or incomplete. Always ensure that you copy down your credit card information accurately, and ensure that all the fields are completed when filling in your forms.
  • Your credit card company denies the purchase because it is from a foreign company. As a security measure, credit card companies occasionally deny purchases that are made in a foreign country if they can tell that you haven’t traveled there recently. It helps if you are able to speak to your credit card company to let them know that a purchase from Mailscripts will be going through on your credit card so that they will know to permit this transaction.
  • There is an increased security alert in the U.S.

What is your return policy?
All of our prescriptions are filled by a licensed Canadian pharmacy, and as such we must follow all applicable laws. The law regarding returns states:
The Pharmacist shall not accept the return for use or re-use of any portion of any drug or non-prescription medication. We cannot accept returns, however all orders erroneously shipped will be reimbursed or refilled correctly.
